You, Too! Lesson Plans
Welcome to You, Too! aligned lesson plans. These lesson plans include content area standards, aligned with arts subjects, and are designed to engage students in conversation about the episodes and segments. Episodes can be watched as a whole, or as individual segments. Find lesson plans based on the needs of your class – the episode you want (Connections or Communication), the grade band (K-2 or 3-5), the Content area (ELA, Math, etc.), or the Arts subject (Theater, Visual Art, Dance, etc.). Most lessons are written to be used over multiple days or class periods. Feel free to tailor the plans to meet the needs of your students, both to meet their levels and the time in class. Materials are linked and included within the lessons.
Season 3 lesson plans created by Celeste Miller, Educational Movement Consultant for Dance Arts Integration.
Lesson plans include the following sections to guide teaching:
This part of the lesson is designed to get students’ attention. In this part, students may do a quick game or activity to get their brains and bodies ready.
This part of the lesson is designed to expose students to a concept through hands-on and/or interactive activities. In this part, students will begin to see how the arts and the content are connected.
This part of the lesson is designed to provide direct and guided instruction using non-traditional activities. In this part, you will model a skill, have students work on that skill with you, and/or complete whole class work to get students ready to do some work on their own.
This part of the lesson is designed to have students complete work in small groups or individually. In this part, students show their understanding of the instruction/activities up to this point. The activities in this section offer an informal assessment for the teacher to assess content mastery. This is designed to be the end of the lesson.
This part of the lesson is designed to support students who need more of a challenge, students who finish early, a class that wants more experience with the concept, or any other extension beyond the main lesson. This is not intended to be part of the main lesson.
