About Us
Who We Are
We are dancers, creative writers/poets, musicians, and theatrical artists with teaching experience or substantial training in teaching artistry who are committed to working with educators and young people.
Adrienne King, Executive Director
Adrienne King is a Dance and Arts Integration Specialist who enjoys working with all levels and abilities. She holds a Masters degree in Deaf Education, a BA in Visual and Performing Arts with an emphasis in Dance, and a MD State Teacher Certification in Special Education, Deaf Education, and Dance. Adrienne develops her own arts integrated curriculum and teaches throughout Maryland for both hearing and Deaf populations. She can often be found supporting community outreach as well as in public schools through grants, as an artist-in-residence, or grant provider. She enjoys finding unique ways to integrate movement and the arts with the regular school curriculum and strives to find ways to engage all learners.
Celeste Miller, Educational Movement Consultant for Dance Arts Integration
Celeste Miller is a solo “talking dancer”, ensemble choreographer, educator, and animator of community dance projects. Whether performing, making dance, teaching, or facilitating dance-based community collaborations her work explores the possibilities of dance as embodied expression of ideas and a laboratory to cultivate our capacity towards kindling our humanity.
Her arts integration work is centered in Curriculum in Motion®, a methodology of arts integration that she developed and co-founded with JR Glover in 1994 at Jacob’s Pillow Dance and continues to this day. Her work with Jacob’s Pillow also includes director of Dance & Community Partnerships Choreography Lab (1993-2010), and director of the Curriculum in Motion® Institute (2020-present). She directed the Jacob’s Pillow National Endowment for the Arts Creativity Connects grant for Medicine in Motion, a partnership with medical institutions developing embodied reflective practices for medical practitioners. Miller was on the National Faculty for Lesley University’s ME in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Integrated Teaching Through the Arts. She is a co-author on the Integrating the Arts series published by Shell Education. Miller is Professor Emeritus of Grinnell College and is currently based in Atlanta, GA.
